Doum Fruit: The obscure fruit of a palm tree & a centuries-old Egyptian secret unveiled….

Also known as:

Zuriat Fruit

Doum Palm

Not recommended for:

Women who are pregnant/lactating

Individuals with high blood pressure

Due to its unique properties, it is recommended to not consume more than 2 cups of Doum per day.

Doum palm was considered sacred by the ancient Egyptians and the seed was most famously found in the tomb of King Tutankhamun. The tree grows near groundwater, such as the Nile river, and thrives in dry desert climates. The fruit it produces is similar to a large date or jujube, with a hard wrinkled skin. Once harvested from the palms, the fruits are then sun-dried and processed, simply by either grinding them to a fine powder or breaking them into medium/large chunks. This charmingly crisp drink subtly hints at notes of brown sugar with its sweet smokiness and is easy to prepare. During the fasting month of Ramadan, many countries from Egypt to Malaysia prepare it, this culture was not borne solely out of tradition. The Doum fruit packs an added bonus, it's naturally isotonic; which means that your body is capable of absorbing it readily and is very effective at rehydration due to its high mineral content.

Adding to that, the fruit provides so many benefits, including:

  • Gastrointestinal Support (high fiber content)

  • Blood Sugar Control (low glycemic index)

  • Antibacterial

  • Stress Support

  • Kidney Support

  • Dermatological Support

  • Antioxidant

  • Metabolic Support

  • Lowers Blood Pressure

While not commonly found across the United States and Europe, its popularity has increased and mainstream varieties are becoming more readily available. Doum provides a full nutrient-rich profile and is highly effective to support athletes in recovery, fasting, hydration, and just general goodness!

We prefer to consume this delicious beverage any time throughout the day as an iced drink or hot one! This unassuming amber liquid actually imparts a wonderfully naturally caramelized refreshing flavor.
